The re-development of Airfield House and its Estate involved the renovation and refurbishment of the existing Period House, which is a Protected Structure and outbuildings along with the construction of eight new buildings to house the Restaurant, Education Centre and Farm Buildings.

In addition to the use of sympathic materials in the renovation and refurbishment of the Protected Structures, all new structures are intended to be as close as possible to carbon neutral with a predominate use of timber in the buildings and to attempt to minimise the use of steel, concrete or blockwork. This was achieved by the use of Glulam timber, clay blocks, low cement content concrete and small steel sections where required.
