The existing Amnesty International office in Temple Bar which comprised a two storey rear annex and a three storey main building. It was renovated and extended with an additional two stories to the front building and a nine storey extension added to the rear. The new build was designed a steel frame supported on mini-piles with composite concrete floors.
The aim at all times was to reduce the weight of the structure and also the costs as the project was operating to a very limited budget. Complexity was added to by the restricted access and limited area of the site. In addition, new structural elements had to be incorporated into the existing retained structure without damaging the original fabric.
The building was completed during the Summer of 2010.
